Getting Treated Like Royalty

Have you ever wanted to be treated like royalty?

To feel so significant and to have that extra-special care and extraordinary attention?

Well, it is possible with one of the leading airlines in the world and the ‘Royal Treatment’ begins with fabulous service the minute you check in your luggage.

This is an airline that prides itself on treating their passengers including their young flyers just like royalty.

After our dreadful customer service with one Middle-Eastern ‘E’ airline regarding our luggage being left back in Africa (that gave us false promises and found us financially out of pocket), we are so thrilled that we have found an alternative. That airline loses us as their loyal passengers, but this airline gains us.

After my flight with this lovely airline, here is how I discovered they make passengers feel like Royalties and I’d rather share the good news, rather than the bad – as I just can’t write a single good word about the other airline that we flew prior to this flight. So it is time to give the royal call-out to this airline company instead!

So with a little tongue-in-cheek, we’d like to share with you why we felt like we were treated to the ‘Royal Service’.

Royal Brunei Airlines make the plane feel a little like some sort of a Kingdom where we can have whatever we have just at a snap of a figure. Trips become more fun and long journeys look shorter.

My desire to have the ‘Royal Treatment’ saw us booking a flight with Royal Brunei Airlines back to Melbourne, Australia from Bangkok, Thailand, and we are so glad we did!

The ‘Royal’ name alone assured us that we would be in some form of a flying Kingdom where everyone is treated a little like a king, queen, prince or princess.

After our flight with them, here is how we discovered they make passengers feel like royalties.

Such Comfortable Seats

I loved the fact the airline provides small pillows and blankets that passengers can use to make their seats more comfortable while on them. This is specifically important when traveling for long hours.

There are moments when I have gone on long trips, and I wished I could take a parachute and fly off the plane since the seats of that plane tended to become harder and less comfortable as minutes turn into hours and the cheap vinyl stuck to my skin and the rock hard foam failed to mould into my body – just hours of uncomfortable travel can leave you with a stiff neck, cramped legs, or an aching back, but not with Royal Brunei Airlines.

I realized that this was a plane not at all like those others, and I was very pleased. The seats were clean, so comfortable, and with ample legroom and wide cloth seating – and as we were sitting on two of their flights our seat becomes somewhat of our ‘throne’ for those hours.

Alcohol-free Flying

The first thing that struck me when we were flying high was that I loved the peace within the plane.  It is so nice that this airline does not serve alcoholic beverages to passengers.

I know some Royals might like a tipple or two but on the positive side, this means that the airline is used by people who are both sober and peaceful.

If you are traveling with your child as I do, you will find this very helpful. I love it when I see my son have a quick nap on the plane since it gives me time to do my own stuff without any interruption from him or anyone else.

While traveling with the airline, I also did not have to worry about some crazy drunk person being loud, acting like the court jester, or doing silly stunts on the plane that threaten our safety.  It is something I had really longed for.

Dining in Style

Food fit for a king?  We thought so!

We also could enjoy our delicious airline cuisine, and the meals can be pre-ordered if you have any special dietary requirements.

Stopovers

Long-haul flights can be exhausting, but we were able to select a flight that went via Brunei so we could disembark and grab some refreshments.  We also used this time to change clothes – from the summer attire we wore in Thailand and to the upcoming winter attire we would require for the chilly Australian winter.

If you are going on a long trip, you never have to worry since the airline makes extra stops to allow passengers to stretch their legs and just take a breather.

It is hard finding an airline that to put the interests of passengers before its own interests.

I bet this is how royalties are treated. So, this airline ensures that you never get fatigued or bored during these long trips and it helps you adjust your body clock to the time too.

I found this to be a creative way of attracting people who are traveling across continents, over long distances. If you are such a person, you should try Royal Brunei Airlines.

Royal Treatment by the Airline Staff

We’ve been traveling the world for nearly five years and to 72 countries – so far.  And I guess that is why we are now known as world travel experts.  We’ve seen the good and the bad and everything in between.

I’ve been blessed with amazing service, and just shamed with shocking service from all aspects of the travel industry.  But I am impressed that the staff of Royal Brunei Airlines as I thought they were very corporative. We never had any issues with them at any point during our journey.  The minute we pressed the call button, the attendant seemed to be there to meet our question or concern.  I always feel like those who have issues with flight attendants might be because they have a poor approach to talking to them.

My slogan is always, “be good to others and they will return the favor”.

I bet they all returned the favor and gave us a five-star treatment – just like royalties.

Entertainment

Now, this is the highest priority for my 12-year-old son.  When there is a modern and up-to-date state of the art technology he is a very ‘happy chappy’.

Royal Brunei Airlines have a wide range of entertainment that makes flights more enjoyable. Options are varied, which means that passengers have something to keep them busy until they get to their destinations.

As a single Mum, I was glad that my son found something to keep him busy from the TV shows to movies and games – all as we crossed oceans to reach our destination.

All this is thanks to the wide variety of entertainment. No one would wish for more!

The Royal Farewell

As dawn approached and we flew into Melbourne airport, we disembarked on our final flight and had finally arrived back into Australia, and I admit,  it felt strange to be back in our homeland once more.

The staff bid us farewell in such a friendly way – it really was the royal treatment all the way!

What is next in our travels?  Our fifth year travel anniversary is in August and our nomadic lifestyle will continue for a while yet.

We love traveling.  We love discovering and exploring the world, and we hope you can join us as we explore some of Australia over the coming months.

We have exciting things planned for our future – so please keep checking back for our latest adventures.

  1. Wow, sounds like you had a wonderful flight! So nice to see exceptional service like you received on this airline. We had a similar experience flying with Thai Airlines a few years back. Great article, thanks for sharing it with us! 🙂

    • Thanks, Robert – not flown with Thai airlines yet. It is nice when you get a good airline vs a bad one. We had terrible service with airline staff recently but instead of spreading bad news, I’d rather just never fly with them again. Not like this great service. And like you just did, you tell your friends too!

  2. I’ve never even heard of this airline before, which makes me happy I came across your article. We always hear about a lot of the bigger airlines, but then when you start to find smaller airlines, you never really know what the experience is like. Thanks for documenting it. I’ve noted the airline for our future travels in Asia.
