Traveling the world (as we do) has some amazing and unusual opportunities. Not only are we able to explore fantastic locations, and stay in beautiful places, we are also able to try new and interesting foods.
When we recently visited Bali, Indonesia, we were invited to try Japanese food for breakfast at Nishiazabu Imadoki Restaurant.
As some of you know, when you travel with a kid, there is always a challenge with eating. We talked about this in our recent article about Fussy Eating.
We are in Bali. We are not in Japan, so ‘I’ll take my hat off’ to Imadoki Restaurant at the Watermark Hotel and Spa (you can read about our stay here) for using authentic ingredients in their food. They use Hokkaido Soba flour, Soba made by their chef, and tempura. Soba contains lots of vitamins and has dietary fiber will I believe is great for health and beauty. Japanese soba is also an anti-aging cuisine (I need that!).
We arrive and are greeted with friendly Japanese hospitality even though it is only 7 a.m.
The breakfast is a set Japanese traditional menu, and first, of course, is a steaming hot cup of tea.
It has an open kitchen, so you can see the food being carefully prepared by the Chef Sonada who was born in 1977, as is the oldest child in the Sonoda Family.
His father is also a Chef, and he was inspired by his father to pursue he passion of preparing and serving Japanese food. In 1995 he started his chef training. In March 2015 joined with Nishiazabu Imadoki Restaurant in Bali.
Each breakfast is made individually as the customers arrive. This really impressed me.
We wander over to our friendly hostess, who is explaining to us about the food choices.
She is such a lovely lady!
Have a look at the fabulous selection of carefully presented dishes there are for breakfast.
As we are about to leave, more customers arrive for their breakfast.
If you’d like an unusual start to your day, I’d suggest trying Japanese in Bali at Nishiazabu Imadoki Restaurant, or maybe lunch or dinner if you have more time.
