If you are looking for the perfect place to enjoy a sunset cocktail or a snack by the pool as you unwind after a hard days shopping or golf in Bali, then the Watermark Hotel and Spa in Bali is the perfect place to stay.
This is a new hotel (in the last year), and so a lot of people don’t know about it – yet – but I think the word will spread quickly because it really has just one of the best rooftop pools for a sunset that I’ve encountered.
I detest cold pools, even in warm climates, but I found this pool to be the perfect temperature for me. We ended up having a swim up here and watching the sunset on a couple of nights, and I wish we had longer to stay. The temperature was perfect for me and we stayed in for what seemed to be hours. One evening we had the pool to ourselves too.
The Watermark Hotel and Spa was the second of several places we stayed in Bali on our recent two-week visit to Indonesia.
It is located close to Jimbaran Bay, (and we had previously spent a few nights in Seminyak before arriving here).
We enjoyed a refreshing ginger and lemongrass welcome drink on arrival after a taxi ride of about 30 minutes, which was pretty good I think.
We also really appreciated getting to know the friendly Watermark Hotel and Spa staff, and the famous Balinese hospitality.
Because the Watermark Hotel and Spa is a newish city style property, everything is lovely and modern and fresh.
It has an open and airy feel to the lobby, which is perfect for the tropical temperatures of Bali.
Relaxing with our complimentary drink by the downstairs pool at W SENSES Restaurant was also nice after some time shopping nearby.
We actually stayed in two different types of accommodation whilst we were here.
First, we were in a lovely Superior Room. I really like the wood block walls. I thought they were unique and we enjoyed a garden view. In fact, the bathroom has a pull-up blind, so the view is a long one right out into the pretty greenery.
We decided to stay the next three nights overlooking one of their two pools in one of their Suite Rooms.
I was pleased we changed, as this was a ‘killer’ location. Right on the first floor and the glass balcony had a day bed and seating area too – I loved it!
The massive bathroom was also awesome!
And this room even had a coffee machine – so I could wake up before Explorason and have coffee on the balcony as the Balinese music softly wafted up from downstairs pool area.
This swimming pool caught the morning sun, so we noticed this as the place to have your swim before your big day out, or prior to checking out of the hotel.
Another feature of the hotel is a Departure Lounge off the lobby area. With the hotel being located fairly near the airport, this means that guests could relax or use the wifi right up till the time they had to leave Watermark Hotel and Spa.
And another feature for business and corporate guests, or for those booking the Club Watermark Suite Rooms, Club Watermark Premium Suites, or the Club Watermark Suites with private swimming pool, the guests serve complimentary finger food and a light beverage each afternoon at the Watermark Lounge area upstairs.
The Watermark Lounge is available through the day, and a quiet place to relax, work or read and enjoy a great street view looking out across the tree-lined street T-junction.
One day we arranged with Watermark Hotel and Spa to use their two-hour shopping experience with complimentary luxury shuttle service.
They drove us in five-star style into Kuta in their plush vehicle, and we shopped all day.
We opted just to use the one-way service – and the driver knew just where to take us to find the bargains and the market shopping area for clothing and homewares – I was very happy about this!
We found the Watermark Hotel and Spa to really care about their guests.
There seemed always to be little extra services – like security coming to our aid if we wanted to cross the street, at either of the two front gate crossings.
We also discovered a little local tailor just up the street, and so we seemed to be popping over there on several occasions, so we found peace of mind and safety using the hotel security. We also walked the area day and evening and felt quite safe.
Jimbaran Bay and the surrounding area is famous for their sunsets on the beach, and also for enjoying fresh seafood dinners, where you can select your fish from the fish market.
Watermark Hotel and Spa offer their guests a complimentary buggy shuttle drop off and pick up service, and we used this on two different evenings to go to the beach.
Explorason loved sitting at the back and saying hello to the locals as we drove down the side street to the beach.
When we arrived at Kedonganan Beach, we were shown to our own private seating area, and provided with beach towels – this is all part of the Watermark Hotel and Spa service.
Explorason downed a chocolate milkshake in the blink of an eye, and I enjoyed a refreshing light salad.
We enjoyed a wonderful evening sunset drink on the beach that night.
Thank you Watermark Hotel and Spa for helping us create wonderful memories as we continue our world journey.
