Home Away From Home with Bayview Apartments Glenelg, South Australia
Adelaide is known as ‘The City of Churches’; ‘The City of Festivals’; and ‘The City of Beaches’.
The most famous of those beaches being Glenelg, where the original tram line still runs from Adelaide city to the coast.
Here the famed old ship “The Buffalo” lies in its resting place, now converted into a restaurant.
But what was so fantastic, is that this was right across the park from where we were staying!
Perfect Location
All around Glenelg, there are places for scenic walks, eat, drink and things to do for both young, and young at heart.
This has it all
To the locals, Glenelg is known as ‘The Bay’.
So what more fitting place for us to choose to stay than Bayview Apartments. A traditional Australian style double story building, gloriously restored with a modern touch. Impeccably clean and neat, and with the classic black and white style that so suited it.
Complete with every modern convenience: including a practical little dishwasher, tasteful crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, quality pots, and pans. Even a full-size hob, oven and microwave. Plus all cleaning implements and products – even down to the dishwasher cubes.
What a view
I think one of the things I love the most was this kitchen window.
We’d open it as people wandered by. It was lovely to see people look up and smile and wave at me as I made a coffee, or their head would turn to the aroma of a home-cooked meal.
Opposite we would watch kids play, athletes train and pet owners walk their pooches.
The sun would shine in, and I’ve never felt so happy as in this kitchen.
I often said, “I could live here”.
This was ‘home away from home’.
I could easily have stayed in this apartment for a week – or a month.
We relaxed and just slipped into a relaxed style of living…
… and Explorason loved the FOXTEL TV.
Yes –Bayview Apartments felt like home away from home.
The Master Bedroom was so spacious and there was a huge storage area, with plenty of hanging and storage facilities too.
Privacy For All
We had two bedrooms, so I could have my privacy, and so could Explorason – who just turned 11 years old last week.
Coffee Time
I found myself waking at dark, eager to go for our morning walk.
For the past three and a half years we have been traveling the world, and a morning ritual for me is my coffee and quiet time – whilst Explorason sleeps, I get up and have ‘my time’. And with a great coffee machine to make me the perfect brew, this made the moment perfect!
The Little Things Count
With a life of constant travel, many places don’t think of the little things.
Washing your clothes is one of these and so, having a washer dryer / combo (complete with the soap) plus a portable indoor clothesline was a bonus.
I also loved the shower robes and the vast quantity of towels that were supplied.
Light and Airy
The modern, light and the airy bathroom was central, yet well away from the living area.
Complete with toiletries, this was extremely tasteful and modern, and the hot water was powerful and plentiful – something I really loved!
Now comes our morning walks
Bayview Apartments are a stone throw away from the Glenelg Marina.
Millionaires paradise, where yachts and pleasure cruisers bob away, framed by planters of red geraniums, and with backdrops of luxury apartments, buzzing bars and restaurants – this is the place to be!
To the side is the Lock, and we pass over this and watch as the boats passed through on our evening walk.
Morning Glory
Glenelg is full of things to do.
Amusement areas, waterslides, Ferris wheel, and a free children’s playground on the foreshore by the jetty, all help to keep the family busy.
There is even in ground mini trampolines in front of the Town Hall area.
Because we were up so early, the mall area of Jetty Road was quiet, but as the day progresses this is a road where the chic shop and café culture is rife.
And of course, the famous tram departs here for Adelaide.
If you are coming to Adelaide, I’d highly recommend a few nights down at Glenelg at Bayview Apartments.
Perfect location. Clean. Neat. And a touch of class.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay – we only had one problem…
…. we wish our stay had been longer!

That’s so great that they have EVERYTHING there! Right down to to even the cleaning products. It looks amazing. I’m definitely recommending to my friends to be booking in there when they come to the city.
I think it is in the perfect location – definitely recommended by us – we really loved it. I felt so happy there.
