If you would like ‘a little bit of simply stunning’, then take a look at this.
We lie on our day beds under the canvas of clear blue sky. Opposite it is the luxurious outdoor swimming pool, and the sun glistens on the cobalt blue water, inviting us in.
It is only 10:00 a.m. and we can’t believe we have the entire pool to ourselves.
I refuse to get into cold swimming pools. The water needs to be refreshing, but not ice cold, so we go in when this pool at Sukosol Hotel has the magic temperature.
We had great fun here in the tranquillity of these luscious tropical gardens – it is perfect for families. We did our own aqua aerobics and a few laps, and just simply mucked around and had quality time together.
Nestled under the twin frangipani trees is a separate area overlooking the city skyline, is the relaxation area complete with water jets, and water beds.
So as you can well imagine, I loved that. I could lie and watch Explorason swimming, and have a perfect rest at the same time.
What surprised me too, is that so many had told me Bangkok is a smoggy city, yet we found the opposite. The clear blue skies seemed unblemished, apart from the odd cloud floating by on this particular day.
Sukosol Hotel is what I’d consider being a luxury hotel.
Because we are trying to show you accommodation for the traveler who enjoys quality family travel, then we would consider this a very high standard hotel.
If you like 4 to 5-star standard, then this will most likely be within your budget. It is 5-star quality and to me the price range of a 4 star for Bangkok, which is a nice added bonus.
It is large, yet felt very boutique in so many ways.
The other day we were talking about traditional Thai style decor, and at that point, we had not seen any of the triangular cushions, so I was pleased when I spotted them in the lift foyer area at the back of the hotel.
In fact, the decor is a mix of old and new, with stunning showcases with Thai antiques throughout the property.
We made friends right away with a reservations staff member on the front desk. He was so chatty and friendly and offered to come up and show us our room. He wanted to hear all about our travels. He went above and beyond in every aspect of his service. Quite a rare find these days. I’m glad he did venture up with us, as I’d never have guessed where they had tucked the mini bar fridge away.
We didn’t miss a trick with this young man. Every detail was explained. It was so lovely.
He even offered to take our photographs. Explorason thought that was just brilliant!
We were staying in a large family suite and it overlooked the city skyline and the pool, so we were pretty happy about that. Not only that, we enjoyed a double bed each.
The family rooms have inter-connecting doors so a large family can occupy two suits nicely.
This is usually great, but we had an interesting situation. Arriving later that first evening was an elderly couple (who spoke no English). They kept trying to open the interconnecting door, and then they must have had family across the hall. Because they were elderly, I daresay they were somewhat hard of hearing, as they had the television on full blast, and left all their doors open and were passing backward and forwards all evening through the hallway.
We realized it was a shame the rest of the family didn’t have our room.
So we talked to management and offered to move rooms so they could all be together, and make it easier for them.
Management thought this was a lovely idea, and we were upgraded. Bonus!
We hadn’t unpacked too much, so next thing the bell-boy was arriving with a luggage trolley, and we were moved up to the business floor.
With a sky-high view of the city and superior fittest, this was just superb. There was a business center and also a relaxation lounge on our floor for the guests of our level to use too.
I personally loved the sewn embossed linen and lovely robes in this room, and the complimentary fruit too.
So I’d give ten points to the management on how they handled this – it was a win-win for all concerned.
One evening after shopping we stopped in at the lobby bar and listened to the most fabulous pianist playing a grand piano. It was just the relaxation we needed.
Bangkok is the city that never sleeps, and also a shoppers paradise. So we’d usually end up back at the hotel pretty worn out. We’d been given Welcome Drink Vouchers on arrival, so we used those on this occasion.
No idea what they served me to drink – I was too tired to ask – but whatever it was, it was just divine! It was so refreshing after a hard day and evening pounding the pavement shopping for technology earlier on for Explorason.
Next morning after breakfast, we found just the therapy for our tired and weary bodies.
… And we were off…
We headed to Lotus Spa downstairs within the Sukosol Hotel where we had booked ????
Wait for it…
Yes – it is a professional massage lesson!
And it was educational, relaxing, and so much fun!
Explorason is only ten-years-old, but he really learned so much, and our instructor was lovely too.
Sukosol Hotel is a lovely standard of hotel. The service is just ‘that bit better’. You are shown to a table for breakfast (to help yourself), and the eating areas are divided and quite lovely.
And if you’d like to try something different than a fusion of western and eastern treats await you here at the Sukosol Hotel. Why not go for Thai Green Tea Muffins with your breakfast?
Or for the less adventurous, then western baked beans, pancakes, and other classic breakfast dishes are available at the buffet, or the chefs will assist you.
Whether you come to Bangkok for business; a vacation; a stopover; or to visit family; or catching up with friends, we can highly recommend staying with the lovely folk at the Sukosol Hotel.
