Hershey Land of Chocolate
At Christmas
Tonight we have landed in Hersey land of chocolate and it is amazing, especially because it is Christmas celebrations.
Discover Hershey Land of Chocolate
The streetlights are chocolate drops here in this Pennsylvania town. Our accommodation is along Chocolate Avenue. This hotel has a great deal ($30US a night) including breakfast because winter is the off-season. Although ‘Hersey land of chocolate’ is not its official name, we call it that because wherever we turn there seems to be chocolate and sweet decorations. This makes it a perfect place for a family travel – specifically if you are a family traveling with kids. We are delighted at how fast we are becoming reputable luxury travel experts through our discoveries and great wealth of knowledge regarding single parent travel experiences.
“This would be a good place for a dentist to set up surgery” we laugh to ourselves.
“Or for a toothpaste and toothbrush company to manufacture their goods too” I suggest (having 2 sisters who have worked as dental nurses).
Driving the back roads of the USA can result in finding some towns that are hidden treasures like this one!
Sweet Lights
We get lost trying to find the Sweet Lights which is the evening light show and display that is huge and well worth going to. A stranger – a nice lady at the traffic lights tells us to follow her. She drives around town and we get to the point where they start. A $20 car feel gets us in – and we get 3D glasses too. There are lands in Sweet Lights – 5 or 6 I think.
Hershey Chocolate World
Next day we head out early to Hershey Chocolate World. This is free in this town of Hersey (the land of chocolate).
Visitors can take a ride through Hershey for FREE, and since it is off season and early we find it is empty. Chocolate is everywhere. My son loves Hershey’s plain dark chocolate so much and we try to get it in Australia as a treat. But here he is in Hersey land of chocolate so we are OK and he can’t wait to get to the Hershey store at the end. I’ve always loved Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups since I live in the USA when I was 21.
Explorason also finds one of the ‘Reece’s Truck’s’ for sale and buys it with his pocket money for his friend Reece and sends back to Australia.
We learn all about making chocolate here at Hershey, and we do this ride twice. Why not? It is complimentary and that is a bonus.
Hershey Story Museum
We end up going next to the Museum of Hershey known as the Hershey Story Museum. Here we buy a research kit so my son can do his world schooling.
It is quite tricky – in fact, it takes 3 hours overall. You complete a page and get an award. The staff helps with that and we were baffled quite a few times – possibly because we are not from the USA?
Hershey Chocolate Lab
We have paid to do the Hershey Chocolate Lab. This is booked out for the day so we are really fortunate to get in. It has a Christmas Theme, and Kim who runs it is so sweet and ever so helpful too.
Chocolate Education
Here we learn how chocolate and cacao grow. This is a dried pod with the seeds inside. This is great fun to make our own chocolate and learn at the same time.
So much to see and Do
There is so much more to see in Hershey. You can easily book 2 – 4 days here. There is also more to do on weekends, but we are mid-week. It was a fantastic day.

I think I want to visit in December. This is the perfect time to celebrate all things chocolate, and I have heard their hotel pools get crowded.
I think Christmas is wonderful especially with the night lights. Such a pretty town.
