Wanting to rent an apartment in London but tired of dealing with dodgy owners and broken down appliances? Then we think we may have discovered a great concept that offers the most fabulous service.
If you rent apartments when you travel, then you will love this.

Central Check-in
Our black London cab drops us to a central Check-in office managed by City Relay right in the heart of Kensington.
This office is similar to a hotel check-in. We could store our bags here, whilst we take off to explore London for the day (we walk from here to Kensington Palace, then stop for lunch, and finish with some Christmas shopping).
The particular apartment we had selected in Barons Court is one of many operated by FG Properties, who have a myriad of apartments in both London and Paris.
This will be ‘home’ for the next three nights.
FG Properties
We return to their office around 4:00 pm, and collect our bags and also a set of keys.
We’re also given a bag of goodies – clear instructions on the property, and a ‘how to’ information sheet on the wifi password, Sky TV, washing machine etc.
Also a London Map, discount vouchers, free walking tour offer, and a few other interesting items.
FG Properties then call us an Uber cab, and we zoom around to the apartment.
This apartment is much bigger than we expected.
It is light and airy and the kitchen windows overlook large sports fields which seem deserted the entire time we stay here. And to the right is famous Queen’s Court – I can see it right from our window! How cool is that?
To the front, the master bedroom has a view out of the street, because we are up on the second floor.
There is a security system, central heating, and should anything happen, City Relay has provided me with an emergency phone number (we did have to use it once too!)
So we are destined to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Two Bedroom Apartment
We have loads of space with three main rooms. Explorason has his own bedroom, and I have a huge bedroom also.
It’s nice that we can each have privacy.
This is great as we need to repack both of our suitcases, and we have the area to spread out – not like a pokey hotel room.
Large Living Area
I love the fact we have 2 sofas (one turns into a bed) and so we both have plenty of personal space.
We love traveling together, but as Explorason is getting older, he needs his own space – be it a bedroom to himself, or a couch to laze around on.
Love The Eclectic Art
This apartment is an older building – a 3 story red-brick row of properties typical of London from early last century.
So although the building is old, inside has all the mod-cons and a great collection of art pieces, and eclectic items.
Missing Africa so much, I was delighted to walk in and see a zebra print, and my favorite – two giant African carved candlesticks!
Kitchen
On our first night, I walked down to the corner store near the Barons Court Tube station and picked up the essentials.
I was able to come ‘home’ to the apartment and cook a lovely dinner.
Coffee, tea, sugar, creamer etc has been provided so I was set for my morning coffee time too.
Squeaky Clean
The cleaner had just left as we arrived, so the apartment’s perfect and lovely and clean for us to use immediately.
And washing power tablets were even supplied for the washing machine too, so we managed to get all our clothes laundered whilst staying here.
Bath Time
One thing I LOVE about England is that we get to have a bathtub. Nothing beats a cozy warm centrally heated apartment after a day out sightseeing, and to return to a nice long soak in a hot tub.
Plus lovely toiletries and fluffy white towels add to the perfect bathtub experience.
Explorason hung our little Christmas lantern lights (he had to use 2 band-aids to hold them) to give us a little Christmas cheer. I thought he did a great job!
We poured a drink, kicked off our shoes, and it was time to relax with a little luxury, style, and class.
If you are heading to London or Paris, for about the same price as a tiny hotel room, you can enjoy a whole apartment.

Very sweet. Do you have a direct link to this property? Would you suggest staying at it or another FG property? Thank you.
Hi Charles – the link is added at the bottom of the article for this particular apartment.
This is the first apartment I’ve stayed in so I can’t advise you if I’d suggest staying in another one of their properties. We did enjoy this one though!
Really you need to look at the location and suggest what is best for you.
Merry Christmas!
I am going to tuck this post away for the future. David and I haven’t been to London for many years but one of our sons has a new partner who is English so I can see us having to pop over for the odd visit from time to time. Thanks.
That sounds very exciting. You’ll love London and an apartment feels like ‘home away from home’.
