Getting away on vacation is always a wonderful thing to look forward to. It’s an opportunity to relax, clear your mind, experience new sights and cultures, and come back feeling completely refreshed. So what happens if you’ve got a vacation booked, but you’re going to need to schedule time for your studies during your holidays?

We’ve put together a number of tips that can help you balance your studies while on vacation. These are ideal for students enrolled in online university programs such as the popular masters in health policy program through Hofstra Law.

Pick a Hotel with the Amenities Needed

Before you go ahead and book your hotel you will want to look into whether or not it has the amenities you need to work on your studies. You may need access to Wi-Fi, in which case you want to find a property that has free Wi-Fi___33 so you aren’t spending a fortune. Perhaps you need a full business center where you can use the computer and printer if needed.

If you plan on bringing your own laptop/notebook to work on your health law programs, then you may need a power adapter so that you can plug it in. This will be the case pretty much anywhere outside of North America.

Create a Study Plan in Advance

Being organized can save you a lot of hassle and ensure you have all the materials you need when you arrive. It’s a good idea to figure out what your study plan will be. What do you need to accomplish? What are your assignments? It’s a good idea to plan at least one week before you leave so you have time to gather all the necessary materials.

Your study plan can act as your to-do list, so make sure you’ve got a copy saved on your laptop/notebook or you print out a copy to bring with you.

Make Use of the Time You Spend In-Transit

In order to get to your destination you likely need to take a flight, a train, a boat, or a car. Unless you are the one that is driving, this transit time is the perfect opportunity to get some studying done. Try to do as much as you can while traveling because this means more free time once you arrive at the destination.

Try to Get Your Studying Done Early in the Day

Procrastinating is something we are all guilty of, and while on holiday it’s even easier to put off the studying. For most people, it’s best to get the studying done early in the day before you go out on any tours, sightseeing, or head to the pool for some relaxation. If you leave it until the end of the day there’s a good chance you won’t have the energy or motivation to get it done.
