Lakes District via Lancaster to Preston UK

Lakes District via Lancaster to Preston UK

We wake up to the aroma of bacon, eggs, and Welsh home cooking.

Our lovely hostess Cath at Brook House BnB in Windermere is making us a great breakfast, and has made me special vegetarian sausages – oh they are fantastic!
We then head to Lancaster.

I grew up in Lancaster Street all my childhood days, so wanted to pop in and see the castle.

Little did I know it was an old prison where executions had occurred. So we wander around. We have just missed a tour, but we don’t mind as it will scare Explorason and he gets nightmares from such things anyway.

The lovely security guard showed us where to park in front of the working courts for free so we dashed around for 15 minutes and left.

We then drive on and have the joy of returning yet again to our friends near Preston. It is lovely to see them!

We met this great family in Mexico, and now this is our 2nd time staying with them.  It is great for Explorason and for their daughter who is world-schooled to have time together too.

Explorason gets some bike riding practice, thanks to their daughter’s help.

We get to sleep in the Octagon room he built.  It is fantastic and part of the retreat properties they own which is available to rent out.

The kids get to sleep in the Yurt.

With disco lights and warm carpets, they have fun. We can hear the laughter well after midnight. How wonderful it is to hear them have fun.

As we say goodbye the next day, we wonder where in the world we will meet up next.

Travelling is wonderful.

For those who say kids miss out. They don’t.  I make sure we get ‘kid time’, and fun as well as adult time too.

It is a great life!
