Eating out involves a lot more than just getting a bite to eat.

So we went hunting, and we found what we believe to be the all-round best restaurant in Ubud.

Ambiance

Does your restaurant have the ‘feel’ you are looking for?

At Petani Restaurant you’ll find it has three sections.  The more café feel in the front area toward the road.

Then the center restaurant area, and lastly the relaxed and quieter garden setting at the rear.

Bar and Beverages

At Petani Restaurant there is an informal bar you are welcome to sit at (we met a lovely American couple one night sitting there), or a full non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktail, beer, and wine selection is available.

Bali’s own brand of wine is also becoming a bit hit with diners.

Several nights a week you will find there is various entertainment.

One night there was a four-piece band, and another night a solo guitarist.

I love to sing and harmonize, so he invited me to join him.  I was in heaven!

Snacks and Balinese Afternoon Tea

Snacks are available from morning tea until late at night.

Should you be a guest at Alaya Ubud Resort, then a complimentary Bali-style Indonesian Afternoon Tea is awaiting you with their compliments.

Daily Afternoon tea with a delicious choice of Balinese cake is served. The cake type offered is changed every day – based on availability and dependent on the Chef.  Normally the waiters will explain on that day, so we learned a lot too.

Snacks are also available from 3 pm dan 5 pm daily.

From little kids to big kids, the Kid’s Menu has some great choices.  Explorason can vouch for the quality of these dishes – he ordered from the Kids Menu on several occasions.

No matter what the time of day, we enjoyed a fabulous spread.

BREAKFAST

For breakfast it is a selection from the Menu, so we could choose a hot or cold selection, along with fresh fruits, juices, and a basket of pastries.

None of this buffet waiting here.

 

LUNCH

We found a delightful choice for lunch and dined here every day.

Light and healthy choices.

My favorite was a Balinese selection of vegetarian dishes served in a woven basket.

Explorason loved the satay chicken.

 

DINNER

It surprised me that on several evenings they were booked out.

We learned this the first night, so from then on we would book a table. One evening we were quite late, and the crowd had thinned out.

I must say the main course food was so delightful, I rarely had room for dessert – unlike Explorason – he always has room for dessert!

Price

Last time we came to Ubud we were really quite surprised that dining out in Bali at a casual or higher class of restaurant was more expensive than Australia.

We were exceptionally pleased with the reasonable prices here at Petani Restaurant.

I am sure that adds to the reasons why it is so popular with locals, ex-pats, and tourists.

Service

I am sure one of the main reasons why people flock to Petani Restaurant is for their amazing service.

Here we are served Besek. You can choose fish or vegetarian options of this famous dish.  (Poached snapper fillet, mashed purple potato, vegetables ratatouille, sautéed baby carrot broccoli, cauliflower, semi-dry tomato, pumpkin, crispy spinach, pinenut, drizzle with olive oil and lime juice).

We were so impressed. Friendly, smiling and professional staff definitely are a major drawcard here.
