Get Your Rocks Off In Bali

Recently we visited Bali.  Although maybe a lot of our readers don’t realize, being on the go is exhausting.  We don’t have our own home.  We don’t have our own car.  We live out of suitcases.  We move from place to place. Country to Country. And that is tiring.

Especially as an older single Mum (54 years in January) of an active ten-year-old.

I have a positive and ‘go-getter’ attitude to life.  So if my son wants to go to Waterbom Park, I’m on the rides with him, climbing the towers, and swimming in the pools.  If he is plowing a rice paddy behind a bullock in Indonesia, I’m doing it too. Whatever it is, we are doing most activities together.

In the past year we have been all over much of UK, East and West Europe, the Middle East, parts of Africa, and some of Asia, and then from Australia to Indonesia – whew – no wonder I feel tired!

So today I’m having some ‘me‘ time.  Something I recommend everyone should set time for on their vacation.  After all, this is your time to rest, recover, relax, and rejuvenate.

I’m at the Adults Only at Liang Spa on the ground and first floor of Watermark Hotel and Spa, and I’ve booked myself for over two hours of total relaxation.

It starts with being brought a lovely welcome drink.  Then I sit and am able to select the treatments I desire.

Gently my finger is dabbed with essential oil, and I even get to select the fragrance of massage oil I desire – love it!

Feet First

I head on upstairs to the spa treatment room and change into my robe and slippers.

I wander over to meet my masseuse, and she gently places my feet in warm water and starts with a gentle massage.  Poor lady – these feet have wandered the world, and they are not my most beautiful feature!  I’ll give her ten points for starting with the worst of me first.

I then de-robe and climb onto the massage bed.

Hot Rocks rock

Next, it is time for the Hot Rocks.  These are smooth warm rocks that she places on my back.

I’ve not had a hot rock massage before, and she takes the rocks and then uses them with a combination of the massage oil to massage my back.

It was just fantastic!  I cannot describe the awesomeness of this very relaxing massage!!!  If you haven’t tried one, you should.

This hot rock massage was pure bliss.  Totally different from a traditional massage, because these rocks are warm, firm and smooth as they kneed into my back muscles.

In the words of Exploramum, “so hot rocks rock do they Mum?”

Finish At The Top – My Hair

The final hour of my two-hour treatment at Liang Spa was a deep conditioning treatment for my hair.

I had earlier selected the Avocado Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment.

This treatment involved further massaging of head, shoulders, and face, and applying the deep treatment to my frizzy, dried out hair.  My poor ol’ hair has really suffered from traveling, so this was also appreciated.  Once the Hair Treatment was applied, a steam treatment was added to help penetrate the hair shafts.

I should have taken a photo of my finished hair.  Darn, and I mean it.  It was such a soft and full creation – totally different for me.

My hair was washed and dried, and coiffured into a new creation, featuring a full and fluffy head of curly strawberry blonde-brown hair.

Sadly this new creation didn’t last, as that afternoon we headed to Jimbaran Bay for a sunset walk and swim.

I felt totally pampered and relaxed.

If you come to Bali, I can thoroughly recommend the professional spa treatment at Liang Spa.

The Meaning behind the article title

English can be confusing, so here is some trivia related to this article.

One loose meaning of “get your rocks off‘ is ‘to have a really good time’, or ‘a euphoric feeling’.
