If you are heading to Bangkok, then be sure to book a table for the famous Novotel Platinum Pratunam Brunch Buffet.
We chose the Weekday International Buffet, and even though we ran a little late, we managed to get there with plenty of food left for us.
If I went again I would get there early, take my time, and slowly graze the day away whilst looking over the skyline of Bangkok.
The Square Restaurant buffet offers the tastiest delights of ‘East and West’.
Starting with a myriad of Asian favourites, we could choose from home-made Dim Sum, Crispy Pork Belly, the famous ‘signature trio’ of Roast Duck, BBQ Pork, Shrimp Wonton Soup, the Japanese Sushi Station (Explorason’s favourite), Gyoza, Takoyaki, Som Tum, Miang Kham, Larb Moo, mini salads and more.
When we first arrived we were a little overwhelmed, to say the least!
It is a huge area, and there was so much food to choose from we didn’t know where to start – another reason to return with more time ‘up our sleeve’ when next we dine.
The displays are really gorgeous. The chef keeps the egg shells and uses them around the restaurant to build towers and houses. And in a way, it felt more like Easter, than heading towards Christmas.
Novotel Platinum Pratunam is a chic and modern hotel, and it is a little misleading as when we arrived there is no ground floor reception area. We needed to zoom upstairs in the elevator and emerge into an area that makes us feel like we have stepped right into a magazine.
There are just so many food stations in the buffet area.
From wood oven-fired pizzas made freshly before our very eyes to designer pasta dishes made to order.
I liked all the bite-size, and finger food selections. This enabled me to taste and enjoy a wide variety of delicacies.
There are also grill stations where we as diners were able to choose our own meat (with whichever sauce we desired) that could be prepared as we desired.
But not just the Eastern and Asian style of food was available.
Western dishes including Roast Meats, Beef Roulade, Bratwurst, Seafood Thermidor, Dory Filet with Caper Sauce, and many more lay waiting for our tastebuds to explore.
Staff was also available to assist at the Carving Station. I thought this was great, as it allowed me the freedom to go about selecting my own food, and Explorason could be given the assistance he needed – he eats a lot more meat than I do, so they could carve it and serve for him.
But one thing the staff couldn’t do was to make a decision on what we should eat.
So of course, we tried as much as we could.
With the magical view, we could sit and relax a while as we looked out over the ‘Venice of the East’ – Bangkok.
Explorason is a massive dessert fan, so he was in ‘Bangkok Heaven’ in that department.
There was such an extensive selection of freshly ‘in-house-made’ desserts that we just had to leave a ‘pocket’ in our tummies to try these.
These include a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit and marshmallow skewers, assorted cakes, and delicious light and fluffy mousses are also available.
There is also a Weekend Seafood Brunch, but I believe this is so popular people can often be lined up waiting. You can book online to avoid the queues.
Bunch hours: 11:30 – 2:30pm
When we finished our brunch, Explorason had a great time in the lobby of the Novotel Platinum Pratunam.
The “Selfie” cameras were a hit!
We finished our bunch feeling very lazy and content, and hopped into their complimentary Tuk-tuk which whipped us off to a nearby shopping center.
