I had read about a great informal church in Quito and it is known as the English Fellowship Church.

It attracts expats, tourists, and locals alike and was recommended as a good place to meet people. So we decided to attend the second service and were very much impressed. The place was packed!

English Fellowship Church

The English Fellowship Church has a large space downstairs where kids meet. This area also has playing equipment that children can keep themselves busy with.

My son still raves about the guy who shared that day at kids church. Here at English Fellowship Church, we met some really lovely people. I love the fact that the sermon of the day was very practical. My relationship with God was greatly influenced by it.

After the service, many people came and spoke to us which helped us feel really welcome too. We were invited by the ladies of English Fellowship Church to play-dates for my son – coffee morning and book-club for me.

Parque El Ejido

We headed back through Parque El Ejido once again located along Avenue Patria in the Old Centre part of Quito, Ecuador. This is the third biggest park here in Quito, and today it was packed with families all enjoying the outdoors. Many artists display their native works. These are feather paintings with incredibly fine detail.

There is a grand arch that is at the entrance to the park too.

Local Ladies In The Market

What I liked most was meeting the lovely ladies in the local market. Although we do not speak their language, they were warm and caring.

They refused to accept money for the photo we take with them. Their gentleman friend and the ladies all joined us with a good laugh. My son threw his arm around one lady.

We felt like we had made new friends. They never asked us to buy a thing. It so changed my perspective on indigenous people here in Quito.

Sunday Family Time

This Sunday day ended in a huge hailstorm, so we headed back to our hotel. We enjoyed a game of eight-ball/snooker/pool, dinner and for me a lovely glass of red wine.

This is what we call ‘Family Time’. In Australia, we always had Sunday’s as our ‘Family Time’ where we would go to church, go out for the afternoon, and return home for dinner and a movie.

At the end of the movie, we would dance around the lounge room to the movie credits music with our dog Coco.

To me, Quito and Ecuador feel so much more relaxed (and safer) than Colombia. As the candles flickered and the music played, I realized how much I am enjoying my time here.
