Hotel Cokkinis – Million dollar view on the coast of Greece
We have left Corinth and then been to see the famous Greek Canal and we decide to take the old road toward Athens, hugging the coast.
We call into about 3 different hotels and apartments, but nothing feels right. It is getting dark and we don’t want to drive all the way into Athens tonight.
So we are really pleased when we eventually find a family fun hotel called ”Hotel Cokkinis”.
It is situated in a dreamlike oceanic edge, surrounded with a great organic environment. It is actually embedded in a cliff of massive brown-grey rocks, and overlooking the aquamarine blue-green sea, and as the sun sets it offers a unique view of the Sardonic Gulf.
So I am pleased we are here.
We check into our room. It has a fridge so we can unload our travel cooler bag, and we head downstairs with our technology to catch up on some wi-fi.
We decide to eat dinner in the terrace garden, and before long I have met a French Army man, and we are chatting about how much we love Greece. It is nice to share a meal and some company.
Explorason spends time with the cats – some of it warding them off from a playful nibble on my computer cord!
The sea is right by our side. Families sit and enjoy a meal. A young child is kicking a ball around. I wish we could stay a couple of nights – I like this place, and the staff is so lovely and friendly.
In the morning I wake to a magnificent view of the ocean.
We head downstairs for breakfast. It starts to get windy, so we decide to eat indoors. It is a good breakfast and we use a bit of internet to find a few hotel names for Athens.
We head to the beach. It really starts to get windy!
The garden and terrace area leading to the beach has lovely Greek pots. We adore the color of the water, and so head down with the hope of poking our toes into the calming sea.
Once we start our walk, we suddenly find out we are way later than we planned and we have to leave. Oh no – so much for the toes in the water!
We have a bit of a nature lesson on the way up. Explorason loves Cactus. He is fascinated with the spikes and flowers on this one. He wants a cactus garden when we finally get a home.
As we head up to say good-bye we find one of the few turtles they have. Another fascination, so more time to stop and talk to them.
We really loved our stay at Cokkinis Hotel. And now off to Athens we go!
But as for here – the price of the accommodation was great; the food was great, and the service – well it was OUTSTANDING!
