Why Travel Has Ruined My Life

Explorason is a ten-year-old Australian boy. He has traveled the world to over 60 countries and is in his fourth year of world travel.

Here is a ‘tongue-in-cheek’ article he wrote himself about his world adventures, and why they have ‘ruined’ him.

“I’m 10.  This is how a life of traveling has ‘ruined’ me”.

Educating is an important part of our travels, and we have used world-schooling for much of that.

The article needed to be shorted by Matador Network because he wrote a rather lengthy one, but the key points are there!  He did say how a classroom is more than 4 walls, a roof, and a floor.

He is not in any way putting down traditional schooling methods, but showing there are other ways to experience life and learn.

I love the way he ended the article …..

“My life has been ruined. It will never be the same. Thanks to travel, I’m ruined for the better.  Now when I grow up, I can teach people how to treat the world kindly so as to not ruin it, and to help protect what we have so it will be here for my kids to explore as well.”

We’d love some positive comments at the end of the article too.

  1. How incredibly awesome! As a parent, I’m certain more than once you’ve wondered if you are making the right choices for your son and the choice to travel the world is a big one. This proves you made the right choice. Cheers to you and your brilliant son!

  2. What a fantastic article and such a fun and provoking concept! Travel is “ruining” a lot of those things for me too, Explorason. Though I don’t think pizza could ever be completely ruined for me, it is somewhat disappointing to eat a pie delivered to my Grand Rapids, Michigan, apartment in a cardboard box after I’ve had an incredibly delicious thin crust topped with fresh artichoke in Venice, Italy.
